BLUE ORIGIN "HISTORIC ROCKET LANDING"

DIRECTED BY STEPHAN MALIK

This is travel on another level.

Blue Origin commissioned Anchorfield to film the first-ever launch and landing of its revolutionary reusable rocket booster. Under extremely secretive, high-pressure conditions, our crew produced a series of short films that take the viewer inside the groundbreaking process of pioneering commercial space travel. The year-long project demanded many feats of creative agility, lots of thinking on our feet—from following Blue Origin founder Jeff Bezos, to capturing aerials with an astronaut and setting up dozens of shots for lift-off in the Texas desert. All of the footage would eventually be boiled down into a series of intense shorts right there on site, earning director Stephan Malik the nickname “wizard hands” (coined by Bezos himself) for his lightening-fast editing abilities. The result is a collection of breathtaking pieces that approximate an experience few on earth have ever known.

“I could feel it in my heart and in my bones. I could hardly breathe.”
— Director Stephan Malik
